Tell tales are an essential item for the sail of any sailing dinghy or yacht.
- If you place these 10% back from the luff of the sail these will allow you to sail to windward at the best possible angle.
- Place 3 tell tales on each side of your jib just back from the leading edge, at the:
- bottom
- middle
- and top.
When a sail is trimmed correctly all Tell-Tales on both sides will float horizontally along the surface of the sail.
If the boat is pointing too high or the sail needs pulling in, the Tell-Tales on the windward side will flutter and lift.
