Pieris Valley Valentine Please note: This product cannot be delivered to Northern Ireland. Pieris Japonica Valley Valentine is a small evergreen shrub with decorative maroon flowers and beautiful green foliage. It has a dense and upright growing habit that makes it perfect for mixed shrub borders and in low-hedging when used in groups. This is an easy to grow bush for borders that will demand low maintenance and thrive with basic care. The evergreen leaves of Valley Valentine will provide year-round interest for your garden. Pieris Valley Valentine is native to Japan and derives its features from Japanese woodlands. It blooms in the spring month of Mar - Apr, producing brilliant bell-shaped maroon flowers that are clustered in racemes on arching branches. These flowers are backed by stunning burgundy leaves that slowly mature into dark green and provide a strong contrast for other garden plants in all the seasons. It produces bead-like pink buds in late summer that will bloom only in next flowering season, thus providing winter interest. Valley Valentine is a handsome looking shrub that will thrive in full sun or partial shade, planted in an acidic soil that is well-drained. This ericaceous plant prefers slightly acidic soil, so make sure you mix ericaceous compost when growing it in containers. Pieris Valley Valentine will grow with low upkeep and pruning. Simply cut back overgrowing or damaged shoots after the flowering each year. Add a layer of well-rotted mulch that will keep the roots cool. This Pieris variety is ideal for foundations plantings in the shrub border. Mix it with other evergreen shrubs to create stunning garden effects. Use it in containers to decorate a patio or group it as low-hedging under other tall trees like pine.
